Living here on the Coast
An insider look at what makes this place so special.
How would you like to live just steps away from the ocean, rainforest and quaint, locally owned shops and restaurants – all within a 60-minute commute of Vancouver?
Welcome to the Sunshine Coast of beautiful BC – a place that walked into my heart and has transformed me into a passionate advocate for the area. I don’t just buy and sell real estate on the Sunshine Coast – I live here too.
The Coast is a gem – and far from sleepy. From outdoor adventures to boutique dining experiences and cultural events, there is always a new nook and cranny to explore.
This tiny slice of land tucked on the shores of BC’s mainland, but accessible only by ferry, spans from Langdale to Lund. Located just a 40 minute ferry ride away from West Vancouver, the Sunshine Coast’s 180-kilometre stretch is a haven for tourists and an eclectic mix of residents too.

A quick snapshot into my daily life.
Cultural Exploration
Each community along this span of coastline is unique and quirky. You’ll find urban influences – and even a little hipsterism – along the way. The Coast is dotted with art galleries, restaurants, bars by the marina, three craft breweries (with more opening later this year), barbers, butchers, public markets and much more. Annual arts and music festivals, farmers’ markets, and community events offer family friendly programming throughout the year. There really is something for everyone.
Get Outside
Sunshine Coast is also a haven for those passionate about the great outdoors. Whether you boat, fish, paddleboard, or kayak, the coastline is an absolute mecca for water activities. The countless inlets and coves are ripe for aquatic exploration and the Sunshine Coast is also a gateway to one of the best sailing spots in the world, Desolation Sound Marine Provincial Park.
But, it’s not just about the ocean sports – Sunshine Coast is also home to world-class hiking and cross-country trails, amazing mountain biking and even a recently-built bike park.
Making the move
Many people live on the Sunshine Coast and work in Vancouver, enjoying the breath-taking ferry crossing as their commute. Looking out over the Howe Sound at sunset sure beats sitting in bumper to bumper traffic, right? There’s something to be said about having that time to decompress after a long work day as you head for quieter shores, the hustle and bustle of the city fading into the distance.
The Coast is also teeming with entrepreneurs who are serving the untapped needs of a growing population. With faster, more reliable internet infrastructure being built in the area, connecting to clients and doing business is smoother than ever.
